SkyPerch Privacy Policy
Effective September 16, 2026
SkyPerch is a sky app made by Imagine Milk. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. Questions go to hello@imaginemilk.com.
What we collect and why
Location. SkyPerch uses your location to calculate the real sky over your spot: rise and set times, what is up tonight, and the weather for your night. If you allow location always, the app can plan your sky nudges in the background so they arrive on time. Your location is used on your device and sent to the weather service (Open-Meteo) as coordinates to fetch your forecast. It is not stored on our servers except as the place name you attach to a perch or a post.
Camera and motion. The Look Up view overlays the sky on your camera using the phone’s motion sensors. Camera frames stay on your device. Photos you take in Look Up are saved only if you choose to post them.
Photos. When you post a shot, the photo, your caption, the object, the place, the date, and the night’s conditions (Moon lit share and clearness) are uploaded to our servers and shown to other SkyPerch users. Photos are resized before upload.
Account. Every install gets an anonymous account so your perches, nudges and posts stay with you. If you add an email, it is used only to sign you in on a new phone and to send the sign-in code. We do not send marketing email.
Sky nudges and perches. The objects you follow, the nudges you set and the perches you save are stored on your device and on our servers so they follow you between phones.
Ask Perchling. Questions you type into the Ask box are sent to our server and then to Anthropic’s API to generate an answer. Questions are not linked to your name and are not used to train models.
Notifications. If you allow notifications, sky nudges are scheduled on your device. We do not use push tokens.
Community safety. Reports you file and users you block are stored so we can act on them.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not run ads. We do not track you across other apps or sites. We do not use analytics SDKs.
Who we share with
- Supabase hosts our database, storage and authentication.
- Open-Meteo provides weather and cloud forecasts from your coordinates.
- Anthropic answers Ask Perchling questions.
- Apple provides map geocoding for place search on your device.
Each of these receives only what is needed for that feature.
Your choices
- Turn location, camera, motion, photos and notifications on or off in iOS Settings.
- Delete any post you made from inside the app.
- Delete your whole account from Profile. This removes your profile, posts, comments, stars, perches, nudges and photos from our servers. It cannot be undone.
- Email hello@imaginemilk.com for a copy of your data or any other request.
Children
SkyPerch is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the new version is posted at the same address.
